Lasers have dramatically changed dentistry over the past few years. Have you been wanting a cosmetic procedure, but have been too anxious to schedule due to dental drills, cutting, and sutures? Or perhaps you have needed gum disease treatment or another health-related procedure, but are fearful of the pain.
Laser dentistry can change everything! They speed up the procedure, increase your safety, and enhance patient comfort tremendously. Any procedure you want or need can be completed with ease at St. Mary’s Dental.
Benefits of Laser Dentistry
We can complete all of these procedures, among others, with laser dentistry. Some of the benefits of laser dentistry include:
- Reduced need for anesthesia.
- Faster recovery time.
- More comfortable and even painless procedures.
- No more cutting or dental drills.
- Reduced bleeding.
- Reduced chance of bacterial infection.
- Greater accuracy.
Laser Crown Lengthening
Crown lengthening, or laser gum reshaping, can be done painlessly with laser dentistry. If you are dissatisfied with your gummy smile, ask our dentists about crown lengthening.
In a crown lengthening procedure, we will remove unwanted gum tissue to reveal more of the tooth. It will give your smile a balanced and bright effect. Crown lengthening is safe, and it can make a significant impact on your entire facial appearance. Crown lengthening can also be used in preparation for any necessary restorative procedure.
Crown Lengthening Before and After
This smile design was completed with a combination of crown lengthening (repositioning the gums and bone around the teeth) and full upper arch crowns and veneers.
Dental Laser Gum Treatment
Gum disease can be destructive. The condition can cause tooth loss, jawbone collapse, and even whole body health deterioration. With laser dentistry, we can selectively vaporize gum tissue affected by gum disease.
Dental Laser Frenectomy
A frenectomy is a procedure that involves releasing the frenum under the tongue or upper lip. When the frenum inhibits the movement of the tongue and lip, problems like difficulty eating, dental decay, speech problems, and digestive issues can occur. At St. Mary’s Dental we offer maxillary (lip tie) frenectomies to adult patients. We do not offer sublingual (tongue tie) frenectomies, nor do we treat infants.
A lip tie frenectomy can be completed with a simple in-office procedure. Best of all, a frenectomy can be completely pain-free when performed with a dental laser.
