What Dr. McCray Loves Most About Being A Dentist

WE RECENTLY ASKED DR. McCray a few questions about his career. Here are his answers – thought you’d find them interesting!

How old were you, and what made you decide you wanted to become a dentist?

“I was 12 years old when I decided I wanted to be a dentist. I loved math and science in school and I loved sculpting and designing as well. Dentistry was a career where I could utilize my science and artistic skills at the same time!”

Where did you attend school and how long have you been practicing?

“I graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1987. It is world renowned and the first dental school in the world. I completed a General Practice Residency at Prince George’s Hospital Shock Trauma center in 1988. I have been in private practice ever since then.”

What advice would you give to a young person considering a career in Dentistry?

“The advice I would give any young person considering dentistry is to work very hard at Math and Science!”

What is one thing you find most satisfying about being a dentist?

“ absolutely love being a dentist. Every day I restore patients smiles to excellent health. Changing someone’s smile can change how they feel about themselves and how they interact with other people. It is very rewarding to be responsible for a change in their lives.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know Dr. McCray better! And, as always, THANKS for being our valued patients and friends!
