Advanced Dental Technology

Every year, the tools of dentistry become more advanced, allowing dentists to provide more comfortable, more precise, and more affordable care. At St. Mary’s Dental, our team is proud to use some of today’s best tools, resulting in better oral health for our patients.

Digital X-Rays

While traditional X-rays can reveal quite a lot about a patient’s oral health, they also expose patients to greater radiation than their digital counterpart. What’s more, digital X-rays are clearer, more detailed, and don’t have to be developed with any harmful chemicals. Instead, our dentists can share your results with you on a nearby monitor, where you can both clearly see them.

Cavity Detection

Decay is one of the most common dental problems. But we don’t have to wait until you already have a developed cavity to help you strengthen your smile. With our cavity detection tool, our Mechanicsville team can help you identify weak areas of your smile just as the decay is beginning. As a result, you can look forward to much smaller fillings that preserve more of your natural smile.

Intraoral Cameras

Similar to digital X-rays, intraoral cameras help us capture detailed images of your mouth that we can then project onto a screen for your benefit. As we explain your needs and your treatment options, we’ll use the images captured by our intraoral camera to help you understand how we can help you.

Oral Cancer Screening

At every regular checkup, we will complete an oral cancer screening using a tool like VELscope. This revolutionary device allows us to diagnose oral cancer while it’s in the earliest stages of development. A patient’s odds of successfully treating oral cancer are highest when it’s diagnosed and treated early.

CEREC Technology

With CEREC technology (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics), our patients enjoy beautifully crafted porcelain crowns and veneers that are designed and milled right here in our office. With traditional restorations, patients have to wear temporary crowns or veneers while their permanent ones are created in an off-site laboratory. Today, we are able to complete your restoration procedure in one convenient visit. CEREC same-day crowns and veneers are designed just for you, seamlessly improving your smile in a way that looks and feels completely natural.
